Little Cedar Creek Field

Little Cedar Creek Field is in Conecuh County. Alabama. The Little Cedar Creek Field has been described as the most significant onshore find in the Gulf Coast area in the past 30 years. The field produces from the Smackover Limestone and has made approximately 5,941,898 barrels of oil and 5.1 billion cubic feet of gas through April, 2008. Midroc Operating Company has drilled over 40 successful wells in the field that are either producing or in various stages of completion and expected to be productive soon.

Wells in the Little Cedar Creek Field are drilled on 160 acre units, with one well in each quarter section. The wells initially come in flowing 350 to 450 barrels of oil per day plus associated gas. The Alabama Oil and Gas Board has assigned a production allowable of 400 BOPD per well in this field.

Columbia and partners have acquired 485 leasehold acres in the field and plans to drill up to 6 wells on this acreage. The first of these wells, the Nick Ross 24-11 #2, is in drilling at this time.  Total recoverable reserves of 1,500,000 barrels of oil are expected to be produced from this acreage. Columbia will retain a 15% ownership interest.
